I’ve had this book on my TBR shelf for quite some time now, but I finally got to it and was pleasantly surprised. It took me two days to read this and that was only because I was feeling tired. I wasn’t too sure what to expect but this is the first alien book that I have read and liked.
I was completely hooked after the first couple of chapters. The concept of an alien exchange program sounds and was awesome – for the book, if we have one I don’t know how I’d react. At the start I wasn’t a huge fan of Aelyx, he was arrogant and annoying, but as the book progressed and Aelyx settled in we started to see who he really is. Aelyx’s character development was huge and completely crucial, if he had stayed the same throughout the book I don’t know that I would have liked it as much. Cara grew on me as well, in the beginning I wasn’t a huge fan of her, but her loyalty and relationship with Aelyx swayed me.
I gave Alienated 4 hearts, because whilst I enjoyed it I didn’t relate to the characters as much as I would have liked, but then again I’m not too sure how I would react if an alien were staying with me. At the end when everything is supposed to ‘go down’ as such, I was disappointed the realisation of who the Humanist was and how things were dealt with was not as intense as I was expecting; you wait for this big show-down and it lasts two pages. Seriously? Oh well, aside from those minor details the book was good.
If you’ve already read Alienated I’d like to know what you thought, if you haven’t you should pick up a copy 🙂
